2026 began as an atypical, yet special year.   Our activities usually begin in the second week of March, but Julián, our Director, had some news that would later unfold like a Russian nesting doll, each piece of news a surprise for us.   In February, we began to re-examine the Misa Criolla, a work that several of our members had sung from 2003 to 2009 as part of the large choral group that brought together all the choirs in San Nicolás to sing with Zamba Quipildor, Domingo Cura, and their musicians.   But this time, it was just Coral Somisa with a dozen guest singers from other choral groups in 2026. The reason?   On March 14th, the eve of our 25th anniversary, none other than Jairo was coming to sing with us.   With the enthusiasm we felt, and with the seriousness and professionalism that the occasion demanded, we prepared diligently and meticulously for the concert night.   But if that was a great surprise in itself, there was even more: on Thursday the 12th, Julián, the Director, along with four of the longest-serving members of Coral Somisa, representing the group, went to receive a decree from the Honorable Deliberative Council of San Nicolás, by which "The Honorable Deliberative Council of the city of San Nicolás unanimously declares that the trajectory of Coral Somisa and its activities programmed for the celebrations of its twenty-fifth anniversary are of *MUNICIPAL INTEREST*."   Therefore, in 2026, Coral Somisa celebrated its 25th anniversary in grand style, with more performances and future projects, more surprises, and more members from all vocal sections wanting to permanently join us.   Who knows what else the tide will bring?   We just have to keep rehearsing, keep preparing concerts, keep doing what we love, keep taking advantage of the opportunity to sing with each renowned artist who gives us a chance and who leaves an indelible mark on our memories, on our resumes.
